My husband likes to tease me for my weird preference of having a peanut butter and dill pickle sandwich on occasion. It really is a great sandwich! I was introduced to this unique flavor combo when I was in high school.
I stopped by a lunch table to chat up a fellow student. I noticed there was something green in her peanut butter sandwich. Intrigued, I asked what was in it.
"Pickles!" She happily exclaimed.
"Ewww, pickles! Gross!" I concluded.
"Hey," she said, blissfully munching away. "Don't knock it 'til ya tried it." She then proceeded to break off a portion and handed it to me. Since my parents taught me to never say I didn't like anything until I tried it, I reluctantly brought it to my mouth and bit into the strange concoction.
Surprisingly, it tasted great and my friend was delighted she had won another soul to the Church of the Peanut-Butter-Dill-Pickle Sandwich.
Now my husband? He's even weirder.
To wit:
Recently I was on a Salt 'n Vinegar Potato Chip kick. He decided one day to crumble a few of those chips on top of the peanut butter and have himself a wonderful PB and salty, vinegary potato chippy sort of sandwich. He proclaimed it delicious.
Today, we had no chips. Instead he sprinkled a few Mint M&M's on the peanut butter and again, declared it genius.
And he thinks I'm weird...

Hysterical! I *love* PB with dill pickles! My dad's mom introduced me to them when I was little. Also, my sister and I have always enjoyed potato chips in a PBJ sandwich! Good to know there are other odd people out there. I mean, normal. Everyone else is just weird, huh.
Chips and PB - yum! I will HAVE to try that! My mom always enjoyed a cookie sandwich. She would put Dutch speculaas cookies on buttered bread. Speculaas is a spice cookie. In Holland we also ate chocolate sprinkles on buttered bread or rusks. Chocolate, bread and butter - it just doesn't get any better!
The other night on TV I saw a liverwurst and bacon sandwich - now that is something I HAVE to try!
Peanut butter and pickles - yum. Peanut butter and fresh cucumbers, more yum. Peanut butter and onion - even more yum.
Fot the pièce de résistance - Bacon, turkey, peanut butter, mayo, lettuce on a toasted English Muffin. At a restaurant I worked in we slapped together our own meals. Everyone thought I was nuts when I made this. I had the last laugh - it ended up on the menu and was very popular
Peanut butter, pickles and a slice of American cheese! That's da bomb! Also, if you make grilled cheese, add PB after you take the sandwich off the grill. ooey gooey melting goodness.
Getting hungry here....
