German Mass Turned Into a Carnival

If you're a Glenn Beck fan, get some duct-tape before viewing this one. Even my non-denominational services weren't this goofy.

It is just about Fasching (Mardi Gras) time (Lent) and in Germany, they love to get dressed up in their Fasching costumes. When I was young and living in Germany (it's been a long time and I couldn't understand the German in the video), the Germans would wear their Fasching costumes to work!!! I can't believe they brought this into the church, however. Isn't Fasching and Mardi Gras and all of that pagan in origin? We see in the Books of II Kings, chapter 21-23, and II Chronicles, chapter 33, where the children of Israel mixed God with their sin and brought pagan things into the temple. God didn't like it.

Sad.

Civilla, that sounds like a great celebration. However, if this is that celebration, why bring it into the Mass? It just seems highly inappropriate to me.

It is a circus atmosphere that really doesn't pay proper homage to our Lord and Savior.

Frankly, I found this display embarrassing and distracting from the central focus of the Mass. That some people enjoy this does not make if licit inside of the Mass.

Did anyone notice in all the people dressed up so idiotically and behaving so idiotically...the early shot of the kid in jester's clothing--and how the expression on the kid's face is, at best, bored? He/she looks downright uncomfortable to me. From the mouths of babes, I'm thinking, we could have learned something if we'd asked the kid what he thought instead of having a bubbly account from the clearly mad celebrant. I got the impression the kid was thinking, "What ARE these people doing and why do I have to be a part of it?"

Oh, for Benedict to make an unscheduled visit to that place for Mass! :-D

I couldn't bare watch the second half--it's too distorted! This is not even Christian, and so where do these strayed sheep think they are headed? How long will they celebrate their pagan entertainment before they're bored with it and begin some new schism?
Jesus have mercy on us!
