For Today, Monday, November 3

Outside My Window... The sky is dark and the air is cool, but still a little warmer than I expected. It's to reach 70 degrees today! The time change also will bring dawn earlier but I think I'll be driving to work by then.

I am thinking... about All Saints Day and all the wonderful children who were dressed as their favorite saint. I want to read up on more of them, like St. Margaret and St. Benedict.

I am thankful for... my job. I am grateful that God gave me a job where I can use my talents. I am also thankful for the forefathers of this country, who gave so much in order to establish freedom. We just finished watching the PBS documentary, "Liberty," which I bought years ago. Excellent, excellent series.

From the kitchen... is coffee and soon a simple breakfast of cereal and a banana. I think I'll try to make Parmesan Chicken tonight with Mickey's favorite macaroni and cheese. Maybe apple pie for dessert.

I am wearing... my gray striped nightshirt and emerald green robe, and barefoot.

I am creating... digital scrapbooking pages. I have some photos I took of Mickey in his "Revolutionary" outfit on Friday. He looked great with his authentic leather tricorn hat! He's such a hoot about these things. He'd like to be a Town Crier but I have no idea how he's going to find these opportunities let alone time to do them. He usually is in bed by 9:00 PM!

I am going... to be praying soon and then getting ready for work.

I am reading... Seth Godin's books and now a new one lent to me by a new friend, God Is No Delusion by a Dominican friar, Fr. Thomas Crean, O.P. It is a refutation of Richard Dawkins, who sounds like a rather unpleasant person to me. Since I'm still debating a few atheists, this book will come in handy. Dawkins seems to be the new poster child for atheism.

I am hoping... that I can wake up and function well today. I didn't get as much sleep as I would have liked.

I am hearing... the soft hum of the computer. Other than that, it's pretty quiet.

Around the house... are pictures that still need to be hung. I bought some large green garbage bags so Mickey can fill them with some boxes we won't need and put them in the outside storage shed. My next big project will be to organize my scrapbooking area.

One of my favorite things... is attending church. It is such joy to finally look forward to being in church again. After my "Big Burnout," I was wondering if I'd ever look forward to being in church again. I've finally found a great church family and look forward to being around them each week as we worship our Lord. Indeed, how good it is when brethren dwell together in unity! (Ps. 133:1)

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: I'd like to visit the local Catholic bookstore to see if they have "Into Great Silence" and also a book about the early Christians and the Mass. I hope to work on my organization project in the evenings. I may look into purchasing the latest version of my desktop publishing software but I'll see. I may be getting one more check from Michaels. If so, that's where it's going!

Here is picture thought I am sharing... Another from the Renaissance Festival: The Joust! It's our favorite event to watch. Those guys are wearing authentic armor. Very, very heavy!

I am sitting here speechless....

I have been involved in online communities and blogging for a while and although I am blessed with MANY wonderful non-Catholic Christian friends who are such a source of love and light in my life... I have longed for something deeper. I find that the one thread that runs through many of these relationships is that in order to remain friends, I must often remain silent. While my friends share their varying positions as though they are the only gospel truth, the few times I have shared mine have been cause for division.

I love all of God's children and I treasure all of my friends, but I am being suffocated by watered down theology.

I cannot tell you how much it means to me to have found your blog through the Simple Woman's Daybook blog, today.

Thank you for sharing your faith... our faith... so fearlessly.

I look forward to visiting OFTEN!

Blessings... *Linda*

Love that picture! We've only been to one renaissance festival but we had a great time!
Did you end up making an apple pie last night? :-)

Thanks, Jan! No, we didn't have the apple pie, yet but I did fix the Parmesan Chicken and mac & cheese tonight! Aren't Ren Fests fun? I love 'em!
